Adolescents & Children 7+
Teens & Kids:
Life can feel like a rollercoaster. One minute, you’re flying high and the next, you’re down in the dumps. Maybe your chest tightens when you think about school and the future, or your heart sinks after a fight with a parent, friend, or partner. Maybe you’re carrying around something big, something painful, and you don’t know how - or if - you even want to talk about it. You might be afraid that no one would understand. Sometimes it feels like your emotions are too much, and you end up lashing out or shutting down. You want to feel heard. You want things to make more sense. You want more control over your life and choices - and a safe space where you don’t have to pretend that everything’s OK.
You’re not alone.
Therapy can be that space where your voice matters.
Parent & Caregivers:
You’ve noticed the changes - your child seems overwhelmed, shut down, or on edge. Maybe they’re more irritable, withdrawn, or constantly anxious. Maybe they’ve stopped talking to you the way they used to, or you’re worried about mood swings, self-harm, or something they won’t put into words. You want to help, but nothing gets through.
It’s painful to watch your child struggle and not know how to reach them or help them. You may be wondering if this is “just a phase” or something deeper. You want to support them, but you’re not sure what they need - or if they’d even accept it.
Teens & Kids
Therapy is a safe space where you can fully process what you’re going through; it’s a judgment-free zone where you can be completely honest. Being a teen or kid can be tough - you’re growing up each and every day! On one hand, you’re discovering who you are and want to embrace the freedom and independence that comes with that. On the other hand, you’re still living under your parents’ or guardians’ roof, which means following their rules. You’re also probably dealing with the pressure and stress of school, extracurriculars, hobbies, passions, and relationships with your peers. That’s a lot to navigate! It’s natural to have a lot of feelings about all of this.
I’d like to help you make sense of what’s going in your life and assist you in sorting out your emotions. We can work on figuring out how you’re feeling and learn how to express our emotions in healthy ways.
I strive to be honest and upfront with you while encouraging you to use your power of choice. I like to incorporate humor, expressive arts, and interactive exercises into our sessions to make them more engaging and fun!
Parents & Caregivers
You have a lot on your plate! You’re juggling your work, family, and other responsibilities while caring for your child and guiding their development. Families are living ecosystems that highly influence children’s growth and well-being. I believe that incorporating caregiver involvement is essential in the therapy process, as your child spends much more time with you than with me! As such, I reserve the last 10 minutes of every session to speak about your concerns, observations, and other pertinent information you would be willing to share with me - this helps provide invaluable context for tailoring therapy to your child’s unique needs.
Family sessions can be offered as well, especially when interpersonal issues need to be addressed; I have seen significant progress when conversations are mediated in a therapeutic setting - even if it’s only for 10-15 minutes!
I can also offer short-term individual parent sessions focused on how to best support your child if needed. However, this cannot be a long-term arrangement, as your child remains my primary client.
